Your new home has a pre-existing home security system
Many times after you purchase a new house, you’ll see that the previous owners used a home security system. All the components work, are hung in the best spaces, and are ready to go. In this case, all you may have to do is to call and start a new monitoring contract. A Vivint installer will still come to your home to ensure there are no integration problems, and they might offer suggestions on an upgrade or two. It's a preliminary appointment, and you can get your alarm monitoring set up without having a bill for any new devices -- unless you make additions.
The old homeowners can transfer an existing Vivint contract to you for a nominal set-up fee to make the process simpler. If the outgoing residents are moving to an apartment or retirement community, transferring the security service may be a condition of the sale.
You need to move and bring your old devices with you
You may want to bring your favorite home security components with you to a new place when you move. Luckily, it's fairly easy to accomplish, as most components are wireless. You can remove each alarm or camera yourself or call a professional expert to come and dismantle the system. Then a pro will hang the same features -- and any new items you want -- in the new place. Your home security contract will keep the same.
